Ok, Let’s try this again!

Things got crazy. Then they got crazier. The lovely ladies of VCRD have not disappeared, but I have been a major slacker in getting new information and material on this page.  When our season kicks back up (January) I’ll be doing a skater of the month, instead of a skater of the week.

Upcoming news to watch for: We are selling calendars and merchandise at the flea market this Saturday (December 10th)

We also have a whole new fresh meat boot camp starting on January 8th. More information on that to come.

I must apologize for the lack of postables lately.  It has been a hectic couple of weeks. There’s a lot to look forward to though!

We have a brand new skater of the week waiting in the wings, and will be posted in the next day or two.

There should be photos and video from our most recent home bout against Naptown Third Alarm and R.O.C.K.

And, last but not least, there will be an update about a possible VCRD calendar being shot this weekend.

Thanks for the patience!
Love and Derby,

Trial & Terror

Announcer News!

Vette City Roller Derby wants to congratulate our dedicated and talented announcers, Latenight Lyle and Mello Joe on their gig announcing for the WFTDA regional tournaments, and possibly the National Championship, AND possibly the World Cup in Toronto. We’ll miss you Saturday, but look forward to having two now world-famous announcers back in action after the tournament circuit.

Congrats guys, you deserve it! And good luck! We all know you’ll be just fantastic.

If you’re awesome. You’ll be here. No seriously. BE THERE. OR ELSE!

What position do you play?
Blocker

How did you get your derby name?
When I was little, I would get really hyper before bedtime.  My family nicknamed this sleepy alter ego, Delyria, and that’s what they would call me when I started getting crazy.

Why did you get involved with Roller Derby?
I was miserable at the University of Tennesee and discovered derby to pass the time.  When I transferred to WKU, I decided it was time to stop being a fan and get on the track.

What do you do for a living, or as a career outside of derby?
I am a graphic design student at Western.

What is your favorite derby related memory?
The crowd’s reaction when I took out 6piece Nugget in Clarksville.

What is/was the hardest part about derby?
Derby tells you that you can’t do something all day long.  You have to to have the strength to do it anyway.

What do you skate on?
Reidell Wickeds, Reckless wheels with Atom Jukes as pushers. I love my scabs (pads)

If you could describe derby in one word, what would it be?
Empowering.

Thanks to Delyria for answering these questions and letting us in on a little bit of what makes VCRD so awesome. Stay tuned, there will be a new skater of the week next week. Remember, if you have any questions you want to ask skaters, submit them, and I’ll do my best to work them in.

Why did you get involved with Roller Derby?
I showed up to VCRD’s last bout of the season last year and fell in love with it.  I have continued ever since.

What do you do for a living, or as a career outside of derby?
I am a student pursuing a BA in Theater as well as a minor in Women’s Studies.

What is your favorite derby related memory?
Watching everyone grow and help each other at each practice.

What is/was the hardest part about derby?
Pushing yourself no matter how much it hurts, and knowing there is always something new to learn.

What do you skate on?
I am currently skating on Reidell R3 skates, with 92a Radar Tuner wheels, and Redz bearings.  I am working on investing in new skates.

If you could describe derby in one word, what would it be?
Tough.

If you’re going to be in the Clarksville, TN area, or you’re up for a road trip, you should totally come to this. It will be full of awesome. I’m serious.
